The Best Honey Recipes For Fall
Share
Fall is finally here, and we can’t wait to dive into all things cozy - including those classic and new comfort food dishes!
Whether you’re cooking for a crowd, or just yourself, our African Bronze Honey is a kitchen staple must-have for any pantry. Our honey is different from the traditional, agriculturally manufactured honey you find in grocery stores. Our honey is raw, unpasteurized forest honey from sub-Saharan Africa.
Our raw honey boasts a unique floral taste you just won’t find in commercially manufactured honey! This floral taste comes from honeydew, a sugary nectar-like liquid that comes directly from the sap. Tree-dwelling insects collect this honeydew nectar, and then it’s stolen by the bees, adding a nutrient-rich element to the honey. This honeydew nectar is truly created by the forest ecosystem right to your kitchen table.
No matter what occasion you’re cooking for, here are some of our favourite fall-inspired recipes for the fall season. Let us know which ones you’ll be trying!
Every host or hostess needs the perfect recipe for brining that holiday turkey. With our African Bronze wild forest honey, your guests will be asking you all night about our secrets for an expertly cooked bird with just the slightest hint of sweet.
This recipe was developed for the 2020 holidays when many of us were still isolating ourselves at home and limiting social gatherings. We lovingly called this recipe “Isolation Turkey,” but if you’re cooking for a crowd, this recipe is easily doubled (or even tripled!).
If you’ve been on the popular social media app TikTok in the last two years, you’ve probably heard of the viral, baked feta pasta. We decided to put our own spin on this popular dish with a sweet but savoury blend of our wild honey, goat cheese and vine-ripened cherry tomatoes. This recipe is easy enough for even the most beginner chefs and is quick enough for a busy weeknight dinner.
Like their owners, sometimes our furry friends have sensitive stomachs, food sensitivities and the occasional digestive issue. That’s where we come in. In moderation, honey can be a great addition to your dog’s well-balanced diet. Dogs can benefit from many of the health benefits honey boasts for humans, such as upset stomachs, skin issues, insect bites and inflammation. Packed with pre- and probiotics, these simple homemade doggy treats are made from 5 simple ingredients and can last up to two weeks in your fridge.
There is nothing more comforting on a brisk fall morning than a slow brunch with family or friends. But it doesn’t have to be complicated! This easy cinnamon french toast recipe uses ingredients you probably already have in your pantry and only take a few minutes to make. French toast was even intended as a way to use stale bread! Now all you have to worry about is what toppings you’ll put on it!
No favourite recipes list would be complete without a sure-to-please cocktail recipe. We’re giving a shout-out to our fellow Canadians with this classic caesar recipe using our wild forest honey for a sweet, unexpected flavour. Our version of a classic caesar uses whiskey and a dash of our wild forest honey to tie the sweet and spicy all together harmoniously. Top with a slice of glazed bacon for the perfect brunch sidekick.
For the sweet tooth
You might already know that honey is a natural sweetener for teas, lemonades and even your coffee, but did you also know that you can use it in your favourite baking recipes? Some of our go-to sweet tooth recipes using African Bronze honey include Jaclyn’s Honey Cookies, our Mother’s Day Honey Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins and even Salted Honey Caramels. Try one or maybe even try all three recipes and let us know your favourite.
As a member of the Fair Trade Federation and a 3-time Best for the World B Corporation, we partner with more than 10,000 beekeepers across southern Africa to bring our African Bronze Honey to your kitchen table. To wrap up the list of our favourite recipes, we’re honouring where we started and featuring our spin on piri piri nuts.
Traditionally, a spicy snack is often served on special occasions in communities in southern Africa. In the rainy season, these spicy snacks are often flying ants spiced with chillies, a touch of honey and salt. That’s right, ants! Since we don’t have ants on hand in our kitchens, we decided to try this recipe with almonds. These piri piri nuts are a party gift, appetizer or spicy snack to have on hand when hunger strikes.
