We are still looking for a strategic sales and business development officer

Sales and Business Development

Candidates must be 30 years or under, recent graduates or returning students.

We are a Cardinal Ontario based, B Corp (Best for the World, 3 years in a row) social enterprise business that needs some serious business acumen… and some pretty creative marketing savvy too! We import, export, market, sell and value-add - container loads of the most delicious, healthy honey in the world. It is forest honey from African wilderness areas and National Parks.

Candidates should be motivated, problem solving, creative thinkers who want to use their business skills to change the world… or at least to help with some of the lifting! 15 weeks of employment that could lead to a 6 month contract or a permanent position with employee ownership. Digital marketing, social media, sales and marketing, business planning & administration skills are assets required.

This role is for a motivated individual that wants to do some good. We are a Canadian B Corp that markets and sells honey products produced by 10,000 beekeepers in Africa. So the the primary objective of our mission is to build the pipeline of new business in the food industry.  This will include generating revenue through digital marketing and sales, developing new distribution partners, engaging key B2B relationships and participating in new product development.

The responsibilities of the Sales and Business Development Officer will include (but are not limited to):

New Business Development:

  • prospecting for potential new clients and identifying decision makers within the client organization
  • researching and developing a robust pipeline of B2B & B2C opportunities
  • planning sales approaches and pitches as to develop proposals that speak to the client's needs, concerns, and objectives
  • handling objections by clarifying and working through differences towards mutually beneficial scenarios

Client Retention:

  • checking in with existing clients and looking for ways to help them be more successful, such as presenting them with new products or providing them with engagement tools

Business Development Planning:

  • identifying opportunities for campaigns, products, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
  • using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company's unique selling propositions
  • attending industry functions, such as (virtual) trade shows and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market trends

Management and Research:

  • ensuring that data is accurately entered and managed within the company's CRM and project management tools
  • forecasting sales targets and ensuring they are met
  • developing a deep understanding of the company's supply chain and capabilities as to best represent the company
In addition :
  • research and evaluate new business opportunities
  • create a business and marketing strategic plan for 24 months
  • create and participate in a targeted sales plan

Candidates must be in Canada and able to work in Canada. This is a summer position for 11 weeks. Position pays $15 per hour but may be adjusted for appropriate candidate. Summer position may lead to full time.
