Part 1: All About our Honey
What exactly is unfiltered raw honey?
Unfiltered raw honey is honey that hasn’t been pasteurized (heated) or micro-filtered. We keep it raw, unpasteurized, and minimally strained with a simple mesh to remove larger natural bits (like tiny pieces of bark), while keeping the good stuff: pollen, enzymes, and plant compounds that make real honey special.
How is African honey different?
Most supermarket honey is blended, heavily processed, and often sourced from large-scale agricultural regions. Our African honey is harvested from remote forest landscapes—wild, multi-floral, and naturally mineral-rich. That forest origin creates deeper flavor and the nutrient density people look for in raw wild honey and pure organic honey.
Is unpasteurized honey safe to eat?
Yes. Unpasteurized honey is safe for most people and keeps its natural enzymes and bioactive compounds intact. Like all honey, it isn’t recommended for infants under 12 months.
What are the benefits of raw, organic, honey benefits?
Organic raw honey benefits come from keeping honey unheated and close to its natural state. Raw honey contains naturally occurring plant compounds (including polyphenols), and it can be used as a gentler sweetener than refined sugar. Many people love it for soothing tea, supporting a healthy routine, and as an easy energy source.
Does honey have electrolytes?
Yes—people ask us all the time: does honey have electrolytes? Honey naturally contains minerals, including potassium and small amounts of magnesium and sodium. Dark wild forest honey and honeydew honey are typically higher in minerals, which is why you’ll also hear athletes talk about electrolytes in honey as part of a DIY hydration routine.
How much electrolytes in African forest honey?
Mineral levels vary by region and season, but darker forest honey—especially honeydew forest honey—tends to carry more minerals than lighter floral honeys. That’s why many customers choose raw wild honey as a natural add-in for homemade electrolyte drinks. (Recipe here: honey-sweetened electrolyte drinks.)
Why wild forest honey?
Our wild forest honey comes from bees foraging in vast, biodiverse woodland—far from commercial farms, pesticides, and pollution. It’s “wild” because the bees aren’t trucked around to pollinate monocrops; they live and work in their natural forest home.
What is honeydew forest honey?
Honeydew forest honey (also called honeydew honey) isn’t made from flower nectar alone. Bees also collect honeydew—a naturally sweet substance associated with forest trees—creating a darker forest honey that’s often less sugary-sweet and more mineral-rich. Many people seek it out as a high antioxidant honey option with a bold, malty flavor. Check out our Honeydew Forest Honey.
Does real honey crystallize?
Yes—real honey often crystallizes over time, especially raw and unfiltered raw honey. To soften it, warm the jar gently in a bowl of warm water (not boiling) and stir.
What makes your honey different?
Our difference is the forest. This is raw African honey harvested from remote woodland ecosystems, including honeydew forest honey styles that are naturally darker and mineral-dense. We also have a standout antioxidant profile: our wild forest honey has 2x more antioxidants than Manuka honey and a unique blend of polyphenols shaped by its forest origins.
Can I use your honey on my skin?
Many people use raw wild honey as a simple, traditional skincare ingredient because it’s naturally humectant (it helps hold moisture). Patch test first, and avoid using on broken skin if you’re sensitive.
Is your honey really pure organic?
Yes—our pure organic honey is certified organic by EcoCert and harvested in remote areas with no industrial farming nearby. That means no pesticide-intensive monocrops, no factory processing, and a clean forest origin that supports the organic raw honey benefits people look for.
Forest honey vs Manuka?
Manuka is often discussed for MGO/UMF-related markers. Our forest honey focus is different: a broad spectrum of plant compounds and minerals from biodiverse woodlands, including honeydew honey styles. If you’re comparing forest honey vs Manuka, think “forest polyphenols + mineral richness,” not just one single marker. BTW our honey has 2 times more total antioxdant capacity (TAC) than Manuka.
Part 2: Our Values & Impact
Who are 10,000 beekeepers?
They're the heart of what we do. We work with a network of over 10,000 traditional beekeepers in remote African communities. When you choose our ethical honey, you're helping keep families thriving—without cutting down the forest. More here: our story.
Ethically sourced?
Yes—it IS our business to be ethical. Our ethically sourced honey model is built on fair, transparent relationships and practical support so beekeepers can earn a dignified income by protecting trees (not selling them as charcoal).
Ethical honey environment?
Ethical honey is conservation you can taste. When forest honey creates real income, the forest becomes more valuable standing than cleared. That helps address root threats like deforestation, habitat loss, and biodiversity collapse.
Fight climate change?
Healthy forests are major carbon sinks. Buying raw African honey supports livelihoods that depend on intact forests—so communities have economic reasons to keep trees standing.
Certifications?
We're serious about third-party verification and transparent operations:
✅ Certified organic (EcoCert)
✅ B Corp certified
Organic certified?
Yes—our honey from Africa is certified organic by EcoCert, reflecting practices designed to protect forest ecosystems and keep honey clean, traceable, and pure organic honey.
Fair trade?
We partner directly with groups on the ground and keep the supply chain focused and accountable. Fewer middle layers means more value returns to the people doing the skilled work—harvesting wild forest honey responsibly.
Part 3: Packaging
Why glass jars?
Glass is inert, protects flavor, and is widely recyclable. It's one of the best ways to store unpasteurized honey and unfiltered raw honey without risk of plastic odors or chemical leaching.
Recyclable shipping?
Yes—our protective materials are primarily cardboard and paper-based padding so your raw wild honey arrives safely.
Zero-waste?
We're working toward lower-waste packaging over time. Our jars are reusable and our shipping materials are kept as minimal as possible. More here: Sustainability.
Part 4: Shipping
Damaged order? Broken jar?
If a jar arrives damaged, email us with a few photos and your order number. We'll make it right as quickly as possible.
Can I track my order?
