Honey Cookies for Kenya
Share
We learned recently of an ambitious 14-year-old girl from Pickering, ON, with a dream to go to Kenya. Her dream is a long-standing one and her way of going about getting there is something she has a lot of experience in – fundraising!
Ever since Jaclyn was a little girl she has used her compassion for the world around her as a driver to raise funds for projects that make the world a better place. She's fundraised for World Vision, Sick Kids and a wildlife sanctuary. Her current goal is to go to Kenya on a 3-week Free the Children school building project with Me to We this July.
She needs $7,000. To get there she's been selling African Bronze Honey, Killer Bee Lip Balm and African Bronze Honey Drops at her school and church. Jaclyn also knows that bake sales are a tried and true way to raise money – so she also sells homemade Honey Cookies on Fridays. She's more than half way to her goal and determined to reach it!
This Victoria Day long weekend you will not find Jaclyn lazing around. She's planning a BBQ Fundraiser for the Kenya project – and, because she can – she is also raising funds to help people affected by the Fort McMurray fire.
So on Monday, May 23, if you are in Pickering, go meet this girl. The BBQ is at 1893 Pinecreek Court Pickering, ON. Buy some honey! Buy a burger for Fort McMurray and a cookie for Kenya!
...and Jaclyn tells me there'll be African Bronze Burger Sauce for the burgers! We'll have to get that recipe too.
